View Full Version : Travel Preparation
This is a new topic on how everyone prepares for travel with their Apsos. This can be either to a show, general travelling or a holiday in the UK or abroad.
Your personal arrangements and experiences may all differ from one another.

I don't think i really do anything before we leave .. just let them out for a pee and poo before they go in the car. Oh, and i don't feed them before we leave.
Once I'm on the road, every hour or so (depending on whether they are sleeping or not) I stop to let them out for a wee walk and another pee if need be.

before i head off for a show i make sure the car is loaded with everything i might need and also with the few things i do actually need hehehehehe, i take the pooches a walk so they can have piddle and poopy then pop them into there cages where they settle down really quickly, i then head off, stopping every couple of hours so we can all have a pee and stretch our legs then head off again and carry this on every couple of hours until we reach our destination xxxx
It does not matter where I go (long distance of course) I make sure there is everything in my car that I think my pooches could possibly need. Even down to towels! Even their jackets. Toilet rolls. Brushes etc and sprays. First Aid Kit etc etc and of course water and food goes without saying along with their harnesses.
Short distances is water and my bum bag with everything in it including styptic liquid buds.
Harnesses at all times.
Their safety is by far more paramount than my own............I come second!!! xxx

Well, Diesel doesnt travel well and is usually sick if the journey is more than half an hour.
Because of this I always keep two blankets and a towel in the car, as well as baby wipes and water. I stop after half an hour but to be honest he has usually been sick by then...but once hes been sick he settles better...
Someone told me that they give their dogs ginger biscuits before journeys to stop them being sick...which I guess is what pregnant women have for morning sickness so I suppose it does work?

I was going to say try fresh ginger mixed in with a treat but there again fresh ginger might be a tad too strong. xxx
