Oooooh needing advice again please.........
Gucci has just bit me. And it bled and it hurts.
He had scarpered out of his nursery when I had gone in there to change the newspaper...and he flew at Diesel's food bowl.
I went over to lift him away and he started growling.
Now, as you know, Diesel is food territorial...so I figured "I aint having this" so I left him at the bowl but (stupidly) kept stroking him, trying to make him be calm if I was near his food.
He continued to growl...I continued to stroke...and then he sunk his razor teeth into my finger.
Its only just stopped bleeding.
I feel stupid now. And I yelped when he did it and ignored him...he is ignoring me too and has put himself back to bed.
Help.

I would say that you were right in what you did Nancy i would do the same.I keeptaking chews and food off Ebony as once she too growled when i went to move her bowl away from the other 2 as she used to try & eat theirs too. (as you know she gets fedd in her cage now) but i stilllift her bowlor move her food due to having the grandchildren here ots i don't want Ebony to be food aggressive.I think that the breeder had fed the pups and they had had tofend for themselves so used toprotect their food.I take food out of all of my puppies bowls when they are eating for this reason. I could go and take a big juicy bone off any of them because they know that they willget it back.
If Ebony had done this i would have done the same as you and i too would have ignored her, they don'tlike to be ignored. If she growls now i say NO and put her out of the room, and when she comes back in and jumps for a stroke i ignore her. usually until she settles down and then I decide when she will get a stroke/cuddle. they soon learn but its better stopped right at the beginning. Looks like little Gucci did that and didn't realise what he did would hurt and make you bleed, when he did realise he came back tail between his legs and lay at your feet quietly......... maybe he was saying he was sorry. I would practice taking his food out of his bowl and if he lets you then tell him how clever he is,i usually sit on the floor right beside the food 1st talking to them as i do it.

Oh dear Nancy, I bet this shocked you and I bet it hurt your feelings too let alone your finger. If you are anything like me, it would hurt my feelings because I'd be thinking "hey, you are biting the hand that feeds you" !!
I would remove the bowl immediately and very firmly say NO!!! NAUGHTY BOY!!! Then as Pauline has said, totally ignore him (as I know you did) but keep at it if it is repeated until he realises that this is definitely not accepted. Obviously he cannot go without food for long periods so put it back down and see what happens and if he does it again, lift the bowl for 5 mins and then repeat - he will eventually realise that if he wants to fill his tummy, he will have to stop this and just get on with eating. As soon as he has finished, take the bowl away. Of course, when the growling/possessiveness ceases, praise him to the hilt.
Their teeth are like razors are'nt they and they hurt like hell! I remember playing with my three as pups and if accidently caught, did'nt I know it! I never told them off for this because it was me who was doing the tormenting so it was my fault but if any of them started to become a bit too rough for no reason, then yes it was a very firm NO.
Anyway, Im sure you will get there with Gucci Nancy as he will hate being ignored and will eventually realise that he will not be able to get away with it. xxx

Thank you both.
I really appreciate your replies I feel a lot better now.
Gucci is so young, its hard to know whats acceptable and whats not!!
(For me as well as him lol!)
My fingers still sore today, but yes, my feelings were even more hurt.
He is a little monkey and I think he is just a bit boisterous at the mo.
Also, yesterday when he was merrily aggravating Diesel for a bone, Diesel snapped at him, so perhaps he thinks its the "done thing" lol lol lol
Thank you so much xxx

I think by Diesel 'snapping' at him will be an educational lesson actually. This is what comes naturally in the canine world and Gucci will learn from this that he just cannot take whats not his when it suits him xxxxxxxxxxxx

Nancy you are doing great. It's a learning curve for all. Diesel will teach Gucci how to be a well mannered dog. You have to watch so that Diesel doesn't hurt Gucci.
I let my dogs teach the younger ones what it's like to be a dog but they all know that I'm the top dog in the house.

Well I have been really consistent with Gucci and the minute he tries to chew my fingers he is getting a low "No" then immediately given a toy, and as soon as he bites that he gets a high "Good Boy!" and it seems to be working.
I have also started putting a bit of wet puppy food in with his dinner at night, when Diesel gets his main meal...he sees Diesel's go down first then I take him to his bowl and give him his. I then stroke him as he is eating it, and I have lifted him during the meal too, praised him and then put him straight back down. It seems to be working so far!!!
