We have mentioned sun screens in some of the posts on here but referring back to this subject, yes our pooches can be sunburnt.
Countries like Australia and New Zealand have complete UV Sun Suits for their dogs and contrary to belief, a longer coat insulates against cold in Winter and heat in Summer and creates more of a barrier against the sun's harmful rays.
As we know, dogs with paler coats are more prone to burning just like fairer skinned people are and those with a very short coat are a higher risk.
Apply suncream on ear tips, muzzle, tummy and inside of the legs and repeat regularly.
If your pooch does burn the signs are the same as for us humans........reddening of the skin, blistering and then peeling. Hair loss can sometimes occur. If blisters occur and become raw and watery, then it will be a visit to the vets. xx
