Just wondering how everyone made their decision on having Lhasas instead of 'a another' breed. What was it about as Apso that attracted you all because there are many other Tibetan breeds around so the Lhasa Apso has that special 'something' I would say!! :P :P As mentioned in another post, for me it all started with the famous/infamous (?!?) Magic Roundabout.............

I'd always had king charles cavaliers before which my sister used to breed. Then after losing her last one Mitzy who was 12 I think (absolutely gorgeous dog who we all miss terribly) she didnt get another dog until she met her hubby. They researched all breeds really thoroughly and decided on a lhasa who is Tilly (as posted in pics the other day). Anyway I just fell in love with her from day one ................to me she was just like a real live teddy bear and I wanted one too. :D :D
Now I have two and still want one more in every colour xxx

well to be really honest i never wanted the "typical old lady dog" small, fluffy, cute you know what i mean, my chosen breed has always been the labrador retriever (which i have loved since about 6yrs old) and will always hold dear to my heart, a dog which has many qualities and can be so diverse in many human needs the true all round perfect dog, but mum wanted a dog that "didnt cast there coat" so she seen an addvert in the local paper and off we went as she wouldnt drive so i had to, well i saw these golden ret and cockers and my heart began to melt but mum only wanted to look at the lhasa, i also saw westies, yorkies, shih tzu's you name it was there (take a wilde guess where we were??.....we didnt know any better back then) so i had a strop as i didnt want a "wifie dog" and went to the car then 10min later out comes mum carrying this tiny wee ball of fluff (BLUE) well 5 hours later i was smitten by this tiny puppy and loved him so much, i then went into over drive finding out as much as i could on this breed id buy books, seach the internet, join the lhasa apso club of scotland and the rest as they say is history, ive never looked back since. i have now 2 of the most wonderful breeds enbedded into my heart the lhasa and the labrador :D :D xxx

When i was a child growing up we had a poodle and always an alsatian.. Alsations were always my preferred breed. Then my friends neighbour had a lhasa, and then a really good friend of mine had a lhasa too, then 14 years ago i really wanted a dog, the husband was not

an animal lover and didn't want any!!!! But i decided that:- to have an alsatian needs lots of walking and training and that was something i knew we as a family could not commit to... so after lots of searching, for a lhasa, found our lovely Daisy in the "East London advertiser " rang her "the breeder "drove there that night she was the last left ,paidmy £200.00 and took her home , 22nd August, 1994, always said the best £200.00 i ever spent and the rest as they say is history!!!!!!!!!!xx

Awww Pamela what a great story this is. I know that Labs have a special place in your heart but your heart is so big that there's plenty of room for your beloved Apsos. I suppose you have your Mum to thank for your success with your pooches as had it not been for her taking Blue, who knows, you may never have had any Apsos at all...............strange isnt it how life takes different directions and Im so pleased that through your beloved Lhasas, I got the chance to meet you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I always wanted a dog growing up but was never allowed one. MY mum had a dog when she was wee and it killed her when he died, so much so that I'm named after him (that's right, HIM). He was called kim and my mum loved him to bits. She didn't want to have to go through it all again. I was determined to get a dog so when I moved in with chris, I started on him. We decided in around the march time that we would get a dog once we got back our holiday that year (august). I didn't mind what type of dog we got, and I was thinking about a ckcs but then a woman who stayed across the road from us got a lhasa. I had never seen a puppy lhasa before and it just looked like a little ewok and that was it - we were getting a lhasa and it was getting called wicket (male or female - it didn't matter). We went for a day out to ayr and while we were there we went into a pet shop to buy stuff for my budgie and chris bought me a lhasa book (one of the ones by juliette cunliffe). I was idly flicking through the pages and there was this black lhasa pup with a white chest and white feet and i was smitten. I said then "I want a black and white one" but round about where we stay we had never seen a black and white and neither had the folk we spoke to, so i didn't hold out much hope. When we went to see the litter there was only one balck and white and one gold left and I just had to have it! They say you can never just have one lhasa, so raven came along the next year and she was the only girl in the litter and I was first on the waiting list for a girl so she was mine and when i went to see her, she was black and white too!!! It was just meant to be! (Although my next one will be gold ... maybe ... or black and white again ... or black ... but definitely not white!!!)

When Kerrie was going to go to university, Amy who is 8 years younger than her sister was getting quite upset at the prospect of her sister 'leaving' home for uni and we decided that it was probably a good time to look for a puppy to help fill the void. We had always said that it we ever had a dog it would be a Golden Retriever, a perfect family dog. So we got Molly, the goldie, she's beautiful, caring, compassionate, full of fun and with eyes that melt you with one look. A couple of years later and thinking about another puppy, we decided that our house and garden wouldn't withstand another goldie (picture chewed kitchen units and a once beautiful garden that now resembled the surface of the moon, craters everywhere) and I'd seen a little bundle of fluff walking in the park where we walked Molly, asked what breed it was, it was a Lhasa Apso and after doing a bit of research thought that although smaller than Molly a Lhasa sounded like it would fit in quite nicely in our family, they are supposed to like long walks, perfect I thought, Molly likes long walks. So we went looking for a Lhasa, trust me to pick one that doesn't like long walks and has to be carried! Actually we didn't pick her, she picked us! Amy was sitting on the floor at the breeders and there were 3 to choose from, all virtually identical. Ebony was chewing Amys shoe laces and then snuggled up next to her and that was it, we'd been picked! :D xxx

To be honest I haven't taken any photos lately. Simons been working long hours for the last couple of months and his camera is too complicated for me to use without being able to ask him what lense or setting I need it on. I tried with it but the picture was coming out orange so something wasn't right  . I'm afraid I need an idiot proof point and shoot type of camera and we aint got one of these any more  Will get him to take some tonight when he comes home, or at least set the camera up so I can! xxx

I've known no other dog in my house since the day I was born, I was brought up by Lhasa Apso breeders and I've been biased ever since. However, when my mom and dad lost their final bitch in the 90's and mom couldn't face another Lhasa. I drove my mom mad because I missed a dog around the place, so mom wanted a different breed because she didn't want to be seen as replacing her past LA's, so she researched breeds and went for a Bichon Frise (hence Penny Arrived), then 3 years later I asked dad if we could get another LA and he agreed so we got it mom secretely as a present and Honey arrived, then from then on we were Bichon Frise and Lhasa breeders, because it kick started my mothers passion again of breeding - she loved the babies.

I understand my parents went for Lhasa's after seeing Freeway on Heart to Heart, hence we had a stud dog called Freeway for a couple of years until he nearly went for my dad's w###y after he came out the shower naked hehehehehe      He was re-homed with a relative after that and we just kept the bitches hehehe

I just love them and would have no other breed, I even get tetchy when people say ' oh what a lovely Shit Zu' - :o ITS NOT A BLOODY SHIT ZU!!!!! lol     People used to say about my Bichon 'oh what a lovely Poodle' AAAAAAAARGH :o :x ITS NOT A POODLE - HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THIS PLACID DOG WITH A SNAPPY POODLE lol
